Event Summary

On Tuesday the 25th of July 2017, young people from all over London met at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for an event that explored Climate Change, what is is, what the UK Government is doing to tackle it, and most importantly, how the attendees could contribute!

The day included the following sessions:

• Introduction to the work of BEIS and creating policy – Richard Mellish (Deputy Director of fuel poverty & Obligations)

• Working with Ministers, creating policy and getting a bill through Parliament – Stephen Speed (Director, Civil Nuclear & Resilience)

• Climate Science and how it feeds into policy – Catherine Bremner (Deputy Director, head of Science)

• Climate Change Policy – Pete Betts (Director for International Climate and Energy
International Climate and Energy Directorate)

• International Climate Change Conference Simulation
