Chief of Operations


Job description:

• A commitment of approx. 3hrs a week. These will be concentrated when events are coming up. (MW breaks for University Exams).

• Plan long term strategy of MW.

• Attend events of similar organisations to make contacts for MW.

• Think of event ideas and take part in the organisation of such events.

• Work with the Head of Events and take part in the planning of MW’s events from beginning to end.

• Have an overview of MW’s marketing activities social media and website.

• Create links with universities and help set up MW societies across the country.

• A willingness to learn and understand basic charity law and fundraising methods.

• Once the charity attains funds, you will have input into how funds will be allocated.


You must have:

• Some leadership experience either in a job, school club, society etc.

• You must be independent and able to use your own initiative as you will be at the helm of the charity.

• Great time management skills as this will need to be balanced with your other commitments.

• A passion for education and an interest in politics (you do not need to have studied or be studying politics).


Head of Events


Events are the basis of how MW achieves its purpose. This is an integral role, so we hope to have a 3-person strong team of 2 events managers led by the Head of Events. The roles are similar, with the Head of Events taking on a leadership role within the charity.


Job description:

• A commitment of approx. 3hrs a week. These will be concentrated when events are coming up. (MW breaks for University Exams).

• Overall responsibility of the planning and running of events for MW, you must be clear on our aim and purpose. • Ideate interesting event ideas that align with our long-term goals.

• Have an overview of all MW’s events and projects.

• Plan event timelines and ensure they are kept to.

• Be a contact between venue spaces, speakers and MW.

• Mobilise the marketing team to advertise events.

• Manage the event teams.


You must have:

• Some leadership experience either in a job, school club, society etc.

• Ideally, any experience running an event e.g. at school, a party or at work or university.

• You must be independent and able to use your own initiative as you will be at the helm of the charity.

Events Manager X 2

• Support the Head of Events.

• Plan event timelines and ensure they are kept to.

• Be a contact between venue spaces, speakers and MW.

Website Manager


Job description:

• Please note this is not a technical role, we use a simple website creation package, therefore, no coding is required.

• A commitment of 1-2 hrs a week (more towards the start of the year as we build out our website). This is completely flexible and MW breaks for University Exams.

• You will need to be comfortable copywriting professional webpages and keeping a coherent design.

• You will need to come up with ideas about how we can improve website traffic, attract participants and showcase MW’s strengths to our supporters.


You must have:

• Great writing ability - impeccable spelling and grammar.

• Ability to create a plan using your own initiative and stick to it.

• An interest in marketing.


Social Media Manager


Job description:

• A commitment of 2 hrs a week, concentrated when events are coming up. This is completely flexible and MW breaks for University Exams.

• You will be in charge of reviving and running MW’s 3 main social media channels: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

• You will be given a short training session at Twitter’s London office to help you market MW via twitter.

• You will plan a social media strategy and carry it out.

• You will create designs and social tiles on Canva for every event

• You will create and send out email campaigns using MailChimp and find ways to better engage with our supporters.


You must have:

• Great writing ability - impeccable spelling and grammar.

• Ability to create a plan using your own initiative and stick to it

• An interest in marketing and social media


Head of Fundraising


Job description:

• A commitment of 2 hrs a week (concentrated at grant application deadlines). This is completely flexible and MW breaks for University Exams.

• You will commit to becoming familiar with how the grant process works for non-profit organisations.

• You will write sponsorship packages and grant applications.

• You will seek grants and opportunities to raise money for MW

• You will seek support for venue space and sponsorships from corporates.


You must have:

• The confidence to reach out to a variety of corporates and organisations.

• The desire to learn about the grant writing process and charity finance.

• Initiative and a self-starter attitude.


Operations Manager


Job description:

• A commitment of approx. 1-2 hours a week. This is completely flexible and MW breaks for University Exams.

• Manage the administrative side of the charity e.g. planning and scheduling meetings (online and face to face), writing team emails, processing event feedback forms and photo/email consent forms, managing our online mailing list.

• Manage volunteers e.g. ensuring the team is meeting their commitments to MW, planning team socials.


You must have:

• Attention to detail as our mailing list and consent forms must be GDPR compliant.

• Great organisation skills

• Good interpersonal skills as you will be interacting with the whole team.


EVENTS TEAM X 4


The events team is the core and backbone of MW. You will essentially be ‘on-call’ which means you are free to join a particular event and project when you have availability. Each project you commit to will take between 3 - 10 hours over up to 2 months and can be anything from helping to organise an individual event (e.g. our event focused on crime in City Hall), delivering a school workshop, to seeking out new sponsors and running school debating competitions. You will be required to join all biweekly team meetings which will predominantly be online and aim to work on at least 2 projects/events per year.
