Model Westminster is run entirely by volunteers. We have a number of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year. Whether you’ve got five minutes or five hours a week, we’d love your help. Find out more below

OFFICE LIKE HOME

Work from home, from a coffee shop, from a coworking space — anywhere with a good enough Internet connection. There are no remote workers here, we’re all part of a distributed team. We do have the occasional big team meeting in Central London but if you can’t make it; we’ll make alternative arrangements.

LOVE CONVERSATIONS?

We foster an open, honest and collaborative environment. No ideas are too stupid here and we encourage you to push the boat out. As a small startup social enterprise every one of our volunteers is valued for their contribution. We look for the sort of people who don’t need a lot of supervision in order to do amazing work.

Marketing Manager

The Marketing Officer will oversee Model Westminster’s marketing campaigns both internally and externally and will play a key part in communicating the organisations marketing message. Model Westminster’s main clientele are young people aged between 16-19, the marketing manager must be able to engage with this age group and be able to reach out to young people who would not normally be involved in politics.

Requirements of the role

  • Some previous experience in a similar marketing role, either informally or formally.
  • Strong and confident communicator.
  • Excellent copywriting skills and experience.
  • A good eye for design and conveying messages visually.
  • Basic design skills including graphics and web design.

Duties include:

  • Preparing, planning and project managing the publication of all publicity material to maximise brand promotion.
  • Creating marketing campaigns and working with the company’s PR team to see them executed.
  • Creating and developing new innovative ways to communicate the company message to their existing customers.
  • Contributing to the annual sales and marketing plan.
  • Planning and project managing marketing events and evaluating their success.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of all marketing activity.
  • Developing and implementing an internal marketing programme.
  • Plan, develop and deliver campaigns as agreed within timescales.

School Engagement Officer

The School Engagement Officer will oversee Model Westminster’s participant sourcing and outreach programme,  they will play an essential role in gathering participants for the conference. Model Westminster’s School Engagement Officer must be able to understand our target demographic and be able to convey our messaging to young people who may not normally feel as though politics is something they should be interested in.

Requirements of the role

  • Previous experience of working with young people
  • Strong and confident communicator.
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations to young people.
  • Some background in marketing.
  • Able to innovate and come up with ideas independently.

Duties include:

  • Managing the school engagement plan.
  • Creating marketing campaigns and working with the company’s PR team to see them executed.
  • Creating and developing new innovative ways to communicate the company message to young people.
  • Visiting local schools in London to deliver presentations.
  • Reaching out to teachers, educators and schools for partnerships.
  • Managing young people’s engagement leading up to the event.
  • Administrative tasks and being the first point of call for young people.
  • Able to plan, develop and implement London-wide marketing campaigns throughout 30+ schools.

Public Relations Officer | Position Full

The Public Relations Officer will manage all Model Westminster’s public relations campaigns, predominantly collating local, regional and national press coverage for Model Westminster. Model Westminster’s main clientele are young people, policy-makers and schools, our press must be able to attract all stake-holders as well as promote our mission. The Public Relations Officer will also be responsible for our social media outlets and will use them to create continued engagement with our stake-holders.

Requirements of the role

  • Some previous experience in a similar PR role.
  • Ability to use a majority of social media outlets.
  • Strong and confident communicator.
  • Excellent copywriting skills and experience.
  • Ability to write short pieces quickly with initiative.
  • Basic knowledge of media industry, journalists and public relation strategies for non-governmental organisations.

Duties include:

  • Social media management.
  • Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies.
  • Liaising with colleagues and key spokespeople.
  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media;
  • Collating and analysing media coverage.
  • preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes.
  • Organising events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours.
  • Managing the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation.

Head of Partnerships & Fundraising

The Head of Partnerships and Fundraising will work towards securing investment and sponsorship for Model Westminster’s – the role requires reaching out to corporate entities as well as charitable organisations for partnerships and funding opportunities. Role also involves carrying out smaller, fundraising campaigns or using sales and marketing strategies to generate an income. politics.

Requirements of the role

  • Experience of developing strategies, budgeting and planning.
  • Minimal fundraising experience
  • Strong and confident communicator.
  • Demonstrable experience of building and maintaining relationships, objection handling and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of the principles surrounding corporate income generating activities.
  • Professional manner and nature.
  • Basic understanding of corporate CSR targets and B2B relations.

Duties include:

  •  To work with the company Director to develop corporate partnerships strategy, incorporating a programme of activity for all major corporate fundraising streams.
  • To be responsible for the implementation and management of the corporate partnerships strategy.
  • To create relationships with charities, organisations, corporate entities and governmental organisations.
  • To lead new business development opportunities, such as award ceremonies, sponsorship proposals and philanthropic donations.
  • To work closely with PR department to implement partnership strategies
  • To find sustainable funding sources for the organisation.
